Most illegal immigrants deported last year were criminals

WASHINGTON – The U.S. deported nearly 400,000 illegal immigrants last year, and an increasing number of them were convicted criminals, according to figures set for release Tuesday by the Department of Homeland Security.

Deportations have been on the rise for the past decade, and the 396,906 illegal immigrants deported in fiscal year 2011 is the highest number yet, according to the figures.

Under the Obama administration, Homeland Security issued new priorities to focus deportations on convicted criminals, people who pose threats to national security and repeated border-crossers. Last year, 55% of those deported were convicted criminals, the highest percentage in nearly a decade.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director John Morton said the numbers reflect the administration's "focus on sensible immigration."

"In the face of limited resources, we have to prioritize, and that starts with criminal offenders," Morton said. "We are making sure that people who game the system face the consequences."

Critics say the numbers illustrate that the administration is intent on finding ways for illegal immigrants to stay in the country.

Obama last year endorsed the DREAM Act , which would have granted legal status to some children of illegal immigrants, but it failed to pass Congress.

And Rep. Lamar Smith , R-Texas, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee , has questioned the reprioritizing of deportations, arguing that it amounts to a free pass for illegal immigrants who have not committed major crimes.

"It's disappointing that the Obama administration continues to put illegal immigrants before the American people," Smith said. "We could free up millions of jobs for citizens and legal immigrants if we simply enforced our immigration laws."

Others look at the numbers and wonder how they could be interpreted as leniency.

"For billions of dollars to be spent so that 45% of the people we're deporting are not convicted criminals is not a good use of our enforcement dollars," said Ali Noorani, executive director of the National Immigration Forum , which supports a path for some of the nation's 11 million illegal immigrants to become citizens.

Of the convicted criminals deported last year, 1,119 were convicted of homicide, 5,848 of sexual offenses, 44,653 of drug-related offenses and 35,927 of driving under the influence, according to the Homeland Security figures.

The number of illegal immigrants deported has risen from 116,782 in 2000. The percentage of criminal deportations was at 31% when Obama assumed office.

Alcohol exposure affects generations on Indian reservations

Fetal alcohol syndrome, or FAS, affects all racial groups, but American Indians are hardest hit. Studies from the Center for Disease Control show the fetal alcohol rate among Indians is 30 times higher than whites. Health workers on Minnesota Indian reservations say fetal alcohol damage is a huge problem in some tribal communities. There's a growing effort to fight a problem that, for years, has been ignored or misunderstood.

Bemidji, Minn. — It's no secret that alcohol has had a devastating impact on American Indians.

But what many in Indian communities are less comfortable talking about is the damage caused when pregnant women drink alcohol. Some call fetal alcohol exposure the No. 1 problem in Indian Country. It's causing a literal brain drain in tribal communities.

"I would say it's very definitely a problem, almost pervasive," says Sandra Parsons, director of Family and Children's Services for the Red Lake Band of Ojibwe in northern Minnesota. "I haven't found anybody yet who disputes that. I think people would be literally amazed at how prevalent it might be."

A FAMILY TURNED UPSIDE DOWN

Parsons has worked with American Indian kids for years on three reservations. She says acknowledgement of the extent of fetal alcohol damage in tribal communities is scattershot, at best. Yet there are many families who know intimately how that damage can turn things upside down.

When Red Lake tribal member Sue Antone adopted three kids in the 1990s, she had no idea what she was getting into. The children were adopted from an Indian tribe in Arizona, where Antone lived for several years. Antone says her kids seem normal to most people, but they have problems.

Joshua, Matthew and Shyra all have the same biological mother, an alcoholic who's in an Arizona prison after being convicted of murder. Antone has had the kids since they were babies. She could tell early on there was something wrong. She says 11-year-old Matthew is especially difficult.
"I would be crying, because it was so hard," says Antone. "Having him in a room was like having 10 kids in that room, not just one. He never could sit still. He was very destructive, abusive, not only to his siblings, but to himself. I swear, I thought he could not feel pain."
Matthew was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder when he was 18 months old. That made it easier for Antone to get her son into a fetal alcohol diagnostic clinic at the University of Minnesota. At age 3, Matthew was diagnosed with fetal alcohol syndrome.

Antone believes her other two kids are also damaged by alcohol. Like Matthew, Joshua and Shyra have learning, behavior or health problems.

Antone wanted proof that alcohol could be the cause, so she wrote a bunch of letters to the children's imprisoned biological mother. Antone pleaded with the woman to admit she drank while she was pregnant. Finally, in 2005, a letter from prison confirmed the mother drank heavily during all three pregnancies.

That letter was hard to take for Shyra, but knowing the truth didn't change much. Shyra, 16, still struggles in school. She has memory problems. She has trouble with basic math and counting money. The soft-spoken teenager is bitter over what her biological mom did to her.


"I was mad, and I got sad afterwards," says Shyra, "and I couldn't believe that she did that."

Shyra has still not been diagnosed with fetal alcohol damage. Antone says she's asked doctors at Red Lake to refer Shyra and Joshua, 9, to a fetal alcohol diagnostic clinic. So far that hasn't happened.

AN ENORMOUS NEED IN INDIAN COUNTRY
Antone says the schools are mostly unresponsive. She was denied disability services for the children. Antone says there's very little support in the Red Lake community for her kids' special needs.

"Every time I try to do something to try to get somebody to help me with fetal alcohol, another door slams," says Antone. "And it takes me a few more years for another door to open. Well, I don't have that many years left and I don't know if I can keep doing this. I feel like I'm failing."

Very few kids at Red Lake get diagnosed with fetal alcohol damage. Diagnosis is a long process that requires input from doctors, psychologists, and therapists. There's not even a diagnostic clinic on the reservation. Kids who get a referral are sent to Duluth, hours away, where there's often a six-month waiting list.
"I think there's just an incredible level of denial about alcohol affecting babies, and I'm not sure how you break through that denial."

Yet some say the need at Red Lake is enormous. Family and Children's Services Director Sandra Parsons says last year the agency worked with more than 900 children, many with behavior problems. She believes prenatal alcohol exposure is largely to blame. Yet she says fetal alcohol is one of those hush-hush topics in the community.

"It's kind of one of those 'don't talk about it, don't exist' pieces," says Parsons. "But if we are damaging our kids in those kind of numbers, somebody needs to talk about it. Somebody needs to be looking at what is the reality."

The reality is bleak on many Indian reservations. In some communities, the number of kids in special education is double the national average. American Indian students are three times as likely as other kids to drop out of school. In Minnesota, Indians are 12 times more likely to end up in prison.

Parsons says there's little scientific research to connect the dots from those looming social problems to fetal alcohol damage. But she and others believe it's likely a root cause.

Alcohol damages the wiring in the brain. People exposed have trouble understanding cause and effect. They sometimes have what Parsons calls a Swiss cheese memory, making it difficult to process the world around them.

"They're in trouble at school, they're in trouble at home, they're in trouble on the bus," says Parsons. "It gets to be very frustrating for these kids to believe that nobody listens, nobody understands, nobody cares. And yet they have no clue themselves as to what's going on, or why."

Parsons says Red Lake is trying to get the message out about fetal alcohol damage. The tribe is developing a children's mental health service that will screen toddlers for the condition. And there are efforts elsewhere in Indian Country.

'INCREDIBLE DENIAL' ABOUT ALCOHOL

Public health nurse Mary May, who works for the Leech Lake Health Division, educates women on the dangers of drinking while pregnant. May believes most women know alcohol can damage their fetus, and many quit drinking as soon as they discover they're pregnant. But May says alcohol is so engrained into the fiber of many tribal families, education isn't always enough.

"Even though we have educational efforts, I still think they take their cues from their family, from the society they're living in," says May. "And it may be one thing to say you know alcohol damages a fetus. But if everybody is drinking around you and you want to be a part of that unit, then I think that inclusion is going to be a higher need. I think there's just an incredible level of denial about alcohol affecting babies, and I'm not sure how you break through that denial."

Alcoholism is a big problem among American Indians. A U.S. Civil Rights Commission report says Indians are 770 times more likely to die of alcoholism than any other group. Indian Health Service data shows the alcoholism rate for Indians is more than 600 times the national average.

Mary May says addiction makes it difficult to stop fetal alcohol damage.

"Women tell me that if they're drinking, they don't get prenatal care, because they'll be confronted by the facts that alcohol does affect their fetus," says May. "And they just don't want to deal with the hassle of it."

Alcohol is not only harming babies, it's destroying families. On the White Earth Reservation in northwestern Minnesota, there were around 350 new child protection cases in tribal court last year -- not counting cases that go through state courts. And there may be many more kids outside the court system who are being raised by someone other than their biological parents.

A GENERATIONAL PROBLEM

Tribal Judge Anita Fineday says she suspects fetal alcohol damage is behind much of the family dysfunction.

"My guess is that 90 percent of those cases include a parent or a grandparent who has fetal alcohol effects or syndrome, and I think the children, as well," says Fineday.

What that means is that fetal alcohol damage is two and three generations deep. Brain-damaged parents and grandparents are trying to raise brain-damaged kids -- and they're often failing. The fetal alcohol problem is complicated. It's often intertwined with mental illness and depression. Fineday says it's all being overshadowed by widespread poverty on many reservations.

"All of those things kind of tie in," says Fineday. "What I see with our young moms is a sense of, 'What difference does it make? It doesn't matter whether I drink or not. Things are so bad that it couldn't be any worse.' They don't have any sense of hope, either for themselves or their children."

Fineday has seen 10-year-old alcoholics in her courtroom. She's had 16-year-old pregnant girls roll their eyes at her when she lectures them about drinking. She's civilly committed a few pregnant women to treatment programs, but she says that's rare.

Many American Indians have overcome alcoholism. Pat Moran has been in recovery since 1985. Now she heads the chemical dependency program at White Earth.

Moran says she drank while she was pregnant. Moran knew in her heart her daughter was damaged by the exposure. The girl struggled all through school. She'd sometimes go into unexplained rages.

It wasn't until her daughter's senior year in high school -- the year Pat Moran quit drinking -- that she was diagnosed with fetal alcohol damage.

Moran says she and many other women live with the shame and guilt of hurting their children. She says that stigma holds many women back from seeking help.

"Many years I denied the fact that my family or anyone else was hurt by my using," says Moran. "And that's a big thing to have to admit, that you caused harm to someone else. Not intentionally, because I was addicted. I'm not justifying. I was addicted and I could not stop."

The fetal alcohol problem is not just about alcoholism. The U.S. Surgeon General says there's no safe level of alcohol for a pregnant woman. Even just a few drinks can potentially cause harm to a fetus. Moran says that's an important message for all women of childbearing age.

"A lot of times when young people are out partying and drinking and pregnancy occurs, girls don't even know they're pregnant until maybe a month later, or two or three months later," says Moran. "In the meantime, they may keep drinking. That's a big problem for our young people, because that's a lot of times when the pregnancy happens. Alcohol causes promiscuous behavior, and our kids are out there more and more drinking with the opposite sex. Alcohol is a big factor in a lot of the unplanned pregnancies."

TRYING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

The White Earth Reservation got a five-year state grant to fight prenatal alcohol exposure. Allan DeGroat, director of the three-year-old program, says changing the mindset of the community is a huge challenge.

"Some days I sit there and think, 'Are we making a difference?' But I am passionate about this... I grew up around it and I need to help out," says DeGroat. "The Creator gave me this here opportunity to help out people that can't talk for themselves, are afraid to talk about fetal alcohol effects, or are in denial."

"We're not here to pass judgement on any male or female or any family," DeGroat adds. "We're here to help them get a better life for themselves and their children."

The goal of White Earth's fetal alcohol program is to create a reservation-based diagnostic clinic by the end of the year. There's education going on in schools, and there are plans to create support groups for families.

But those kinds of efforts are expensive. It's unclear what happens when the money runs out.

People in the Indian community are quick to point out that fetal alcohol damage affects all races. It affects some 40,000 newborn babies across the country each year, not just Indians.

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, alcohol causes more harm to a fetus than marijuana, cocaine, meth, even heroin. Yet experts say fetal alcohol exposure gets far less attention than it deserves.

The Bronx

The Bronx is almost all projects and NYC Housings, it's easy to transform it to a reservation for welfare rats and unproductive members, Niggers and Boricua are infamous for being, on welfare, on the down low, and the area is home of a large drug, prostitution and lewdness activity.
A reservation has been proposed as a solution of the unfair distribution of wealth and to promote an movement of independence among lazy, parasites and people dependents on the others tax money, the dependence of some groups on the working classes is just ridiculous and it's at the origin of the economic decline, the scheme of a reservation type Indians reservation with a period of assisted management, then a partial independence when the bugs can be self sufficient...(like in 2453). 

La Raza.. Injuns Fighting back

Much has been in the news recently about La Raza, what a military intelligence acquaintance recently dubbed “a mestizo terrorist organization.” Republican congressman Charlie Norwood of Georgia’s ninth district has called La Raza a “radical…pro-illegal immigration lobbying organization that supports racist groups.”
What is La Raza? The National Council of La Raza (its full name) is a pro-mestizo advocacy organization. The title “La Raza” is Spanish for “the race,” and its underlying rational is to support the interests of the mestizo race (people who are mostly Amerindian blood with a little Spaniard blood mixed in - people mostly from Mexico, Central America, and neighboring areas).

La Raza is anti-European in the sense that it opposes European Americans (whites) and favors the interests of indigenous mestizos. La Raza is notorious for supporting causes like amnesty, illegal immigration, birthright citizenship, chain migration, attempting to censor white journalists (most famously, Lou Dobbs), and removing white authors from schools to be replaced by mestizo authors.

Unknown to many is the financial support La Raza receives from donors like Wal-Mart, Exxon Mobil, McDonalds, and hundreds of other corporations. In more civilized times, these donations would be considered treason.
But many of these corporations support La Raza for two reasons: they have bought into the religion of political correctness, and they want cheap labor. (Subsequently, I have not set foot in a Wal-Mart for over six years because of their support for La Raza - not to mention the fact Wal-Mart imports most of its goods from China and practices crony (tax-payer subsidized) capitalism.)

Also known to many is the sort of radicals attracted to La Raza. Just look at the statements of pro-immigration activist Jorge Sanchez:
“Around the year 2040, whites will become a minority in the United States and, believe me, it will be payback time.”
Related in name to The National Council of La Raza is the political organization La Raza Unida Party (RUP), roughly translated as “the party of the [mestizo] race.” To gain a sense of its anti-Western flavor, read the quotes of its founder José Ángel Gutiérrez:
“We remain a hunted people. Now you think you have a destiny to fulfill in the land that historically has been ours for forty thousand years. And we’re a new Mestizo nation.”

“We have got to eliminate the gringo, and what I mean by that is if the worst comes to the worst, we have got to kill him.”

We live in insane times. Only 30 years ago, La Raza would have been considered a treasonous organization, but now it’s praised by anti-occidental leftists like Barack Hussein Obama and Sonia Sotomayor, and anti-occidental neoconservatives like Lindsey Graham and Linda Chavez.
Paul Starobin recently wrote in the Wall Street Journal that the United States has outlived its usefulness and it’s now high time to break up into smaller countries. Perhaps he’s right. Although some areas would be lost to the Third World, the remaining smaller pro-Western republics would be more immune to the lobbying efforts of terrorist organizations like La Raza.

Twelve Americans are murdered every day by illegal aliens, according to statistics released by Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa. That translates to 4,380 Americans murdered annually by illegal aliens. That’s 21,900 since Sept. 11, 2001.

While King reports 12 Americans are murdered daily by illegal aliens, he says 13 are killed by drunk illegal alien drivers ­ for another annual death toll of 4,745. That’s 23,725 since Sept. 11, 2001.

In April 2005, the Government Accountability Office released a study of 55,322 illegal aliens incarcerated in federal, state, and local facilities during 2003. It found the following:

· The 55,322 illegal aliens studied represented a total of 459,614 arrests ­ some eight arrests per illegal alien;

· Their arrests represented a total of about 700,000 criminal offenses ­ some 13 offenses per illegal alien; 

· 36 percent had been arrested at least five times before.

Deborah Schurman-Kauflin of the Violent Crimes Institute concluded that, based on a figure of 12 million illegal immigrants and the fact that more of this population is male than average, sex offenders among illegals make up a higher percentage than offenders in the general population.

She arrives at the figure of 240,000 offenders ­ a conservative estimate, she says ­ through public records showing about 2 percent of illegals apprehended are sex offenders.

“This translates to 93 sex offenders and 12 serial sexual offenders coming across U.S. borders illegally per day,” she says.

She points out the 1,500 offenders in her study had a total of 5,999 victims, and each sex offender averaged four victims.

“This places the estimate for victimization numbers around 960,000 for the 88 months examined in this study,” she declares.

Schurman-Kauflin breaks down the 1,500 cases reviewed this way:

· 525, or 35 percent, were child molestations.
· 358, or 24 percent, were rapes.
· 617, or 41 percent, were sexual homicides and serial murders.

Of the child molestations, 47 percent of the victims were Hispanic, 36 percent Caucasian, 8 percent Asian, 6 percent African American and 3 percent other nationalities.

In 82 percent of the cases, she noted, the victims were known to their attackers.

“In those instances, the illegal immigrants typically gained access to the victims after having worked as a day laborer at or near the victims’ homes,” she says. “Victims ranged in age from 1 year old to 13 years old, with the average age being 6.”

In her examination of the sex-related homicides, Schurman-Kauflin found the most common method was for an offender to break into a residence and ambush his victims.

Not only were victims raped, she said, but some ­ 6 percent ­ were mutilated.

“The crime scenes were very bloody, expressing intense, angry perpetrator personalities,” she said. “Specifically, most victims were blitzed, rendered incapable of fighting back, and then raped and murdered. The most common method of killing was bludgeoning, followed by stabbing.” 

She found it especially disturbing that in 22 percent of all sex crimes committed by illegal immigrants, victims with physical and mental disabilities were targeted.

The highest number of sex offenders, according to the study, came from Mexico. El Salvador was the original home to the next highest number.

Nearly 63 percent of the offenders had been deported on another offense prior to the sex crime, the study showed. There was an average of three years of committing crimes such as DUI, assault or drug related offenses prior to being apprehended for a sexual offense.

Nutrition Assistance for Puerto Rico

Nutrition Assistance for Puerto Rico or NAP is a federal assistance nutritional program provided by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) solely to the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, a self-governing dependency of the United States. It provides over $1.5 billion in supplemental economic resources to help just over 1 million impoverished residents cope with their nutritional needs. The program is commonly known in Puerto Rico as Programa de Asistencia Nutricional, or PAN, orCupones. Movin’ On Up: The Mexican Maid Madness

On the heels of March Madness, the American public is now being entertained by ‘Mexican Maid Madness’ that includes a mistress and a mystery and not necessarily Mexican maids but Latina maids nonetheless.  Move over Flo from The Jeffersons these Latinas are movin’ on up - and we are a witness to their cultural assimilation.

 In a time when there is a record number of ‘English Only’ state mandates and social conservatives demanding that Latino immigrants assimilate these ‘Mexican Maids’ in their madness have done just that. 

The madness started when Nicky Diaz disclosed that she was making $23/hour working for former California gubernatorial candidate, the chilly Meg Whitman, while being undocumented.

This little Mexican maid not only knew enough English to dial up fame-whore Gloria Allred to be her lawyer but was assimilated enough to get herself a nice Goldilocks dye job and Brazilian straightening while donning a respectable St. John’s knock off to meet the press. 

Who says immigrants aren’t learning to fit in? 

Can the same be said about American-made Joslyn James another Allred client and former Tiger Wood’s girlfriend that looked like a porno star when meeting the press?  Well actually, she is a porn star, but I digress.

Most of all, Nicky had enough American balls to call out her former boss when it would do the most damage on charges of being “exploited, disrespected, and humiliated”. What red-blooded American doesn’t dream of doing something like that and in front of cameras.

Diaz’ revelations about Whitman cameright after candidate Meg called for a crackdown down on employers who hire undocumented workers.  Many accused Nicky of being a political operative that derailed the Republican party of California.  From undocumented to toilet bowl cleaner to political operative, is that not the ultimate example of immigrant success that the Republicans are looking for?

Now some months later, we have Latina Mildred Patty Baena alleged to be clocking in a cool $30/hour or $1,200/week for cleaning the stove and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s hardware.

Did I miss a chapter in the rule book of Mexican/Latina servitude? A maid making it on her back instead of breaking it?

TMZ is even alleging Patty was an aggressive aggressor when pursing Arnold to have sex and unprotected at that.  Is there any greater proof of assimilation then having the Terminator become the Sperminator and obtaining the ultimate American accessory according to Republicans - an anchor baby?  Of course, we don’t know the legal status of Patty or if she’s even of Mexican descent but either way she’s all-American now: from sleeping with her boss to having a swimming pool in the back yard.  Flo always kept herself and her sass in the back room not the bed room. 

However I must point out that most American’s don’t have their swimming pool paid for by an Austrian womanizer whose last name is untranslatable in Spanish.

Adding to this madness is the mysterious Mexican maid who supposedly was assaulted by IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn in Mexico.  The very same man accused of a heinous assault in NYC on another maid.  And because she is a real Mexican maid living in Mexico, that has not been influenced by American mores, she allegedly went into hiding knowing her culture mandates silence and shame regardless of who is to blame for the attack.

Buried in the Oct. 30 Washington Post was a bland headline: "Report Points to Faster Recovery in Jobs for Immigrants." 

The story, however, contained social dynamite that explains the rage of Americans who are smeared as nativists and xenophobes for demanding a timeout on immigration. 

In the April-May-June quarter, foreign-born workers in the U.S. gained 656,000 jobs. And native-born Americans lost 1.2 million. 

From July 1, 2009, to June 30, 2010, foreign-born Hispanics gained 98,000 construction jobs. Native-born Hispanics lost 133,000. Black and white U.S. construction workers lost 511,000 jobs. 

According to the Center for Immigration Studies, from Jan. 1, 2000, to Jan. 1, 2010, 13.1 million immigrants, legal and illegal, entered the United States, a decade in which America lost 1 million jobs. 

From 2008 and 2009, the figures are startling. In 24 months, 2.4 million immigrants, legal and illegal, arrived, as U.S. citizens were losing 8.6 million jobs. 

Query: Why are we importing a million-plus workers a year when 17 million Americans can't find work? Whose country is this? 

Why do we not declare a moratorium on all immigration, until our unemployment rate falls to 6 or 5 percent? Charity begins at home. Ought we not take care of our own jobless first before we invite in strangers to take their jobs? 

According to the Pew Hispanic Center, each year between 300,000 and 400,000 "anchor babies" are born to illegal aliens. These newborns are entitled to citizenship, free health care and education, welfare and food stamps.

If no action is taken, the Republican Party will soon be unable, even in wave elections, to win the presidency, as it won nothing and indeed lost state legislative seats in California in 2010. 

The border will disappear, and America will be a geographical expression, not a country anymore. 

Legal scholar William Quirk describes a new phenomenon in the invasion of America: "maternity tourism." Pregnant Asian women pay $15,000 to agents to ensure they are in the United States when their child is born so that they can return home secure in the knowledge he or she will be a U.S. citizen with the right to a U.S.-taxpayer subsidized education in college. 

Though the nation has awakened to the threat to social cohesion and national solvency, Harry Reid is still attempting to ram through a lame-duck Senate an amnesty for illegal aliens up to age 30 who claim they were brought here before they were 16, have a high school diploma or GED and state that they intend to go to college within six years. 

An estimated 2.1 million illegal aliens would be amnestied, put on a path to citizenship, and be eligible for student loans and more. 

According to Alabama's Jeff Sessions, ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee: 

"Aliens granted amnesty by the Dream Act will have the legal right to petition for entry of their family members, including their adult brothers and sisters and the parents who illegally brought or sent them to the United States, once they become naturalized U.S. citizens. In less than a decade, this reality could easily double or triple the 2.1 million green cards that will be immediately distributed as a result of the Dream Act." 

Lawbreaking would be rewarded. Chain migration would continue. A permanent powerful magnet would be provided to all foreigners to sneak into the United States and be sure to bring the kids. 

As Rep. Dana Rohrabacher argues, one effect of the Dream Act will be to move illegals applying to college ahead of many Americans, as 80 percent of illegals are Hispanics and eligible for affirmative action. 

U.S. soldiers coming home from Afghanistan will "sit in back," as Obama puts it, when competing against amnestied illegals. 

Several days ago, UCLA's Kent Wong addressed a pro-amnesty rally in Los Angeles' MacArthur Park. Wong turned the race card face up. 

When Reid's bill passes, said Wong, "the young people of the Dream Act movement will go on to accomplish and do great things. ... You will go on to become lawyers, teachers, doctors and members of the U.S. Congress to replace those old white men. ..." 

If the Dream Act passes, Wong is right about whose time has come and gone. May the tea party take names at the call of the roll.
